Job Description:

I. Position: Sales Representative

II. Status: Full Time, Non-Exempt

III. Reports To: Fund Development & Communications Director

IV. Position Summary:

This position is responsible for sales activities for the purpose of increasing awareness and with driving sales to the Mobility Store, recruitment efforts for the Personal Assistance Services (PAS) and the WisLoan and Telework programs. This position involves cold calling to introduce customers to our services and to uncover needs. Activities are primarily in the four county Metro Milwaukee service area, with frequent statewide sales initiatives to promote programs that serve the entire state: Mobility Store and WisLoan and Telework. Will meet goals prescribed in position work plan. Collaborates with and takes direction from the VP of PAS and the director of the Mobility Store.

There will be variability in the weekly schedule, but, the position will work 40 hours weekly. While this position is housed at the IndependenceFirst Mobility Store location in Wauwatosa, there is an expectation of extensive travel, local and statewide, for the purpose of increasing sales to the Mobility Stores, increasing recruitment for our PAS and WisLoan and Telework Programs.

V. Sales Services Essential Functions:

  • Referral development and sales assignments on behalf of PAS to existing and prospective entities. Will provide outcomes to Fund Development & Communications Director and the VP of PAS.
  • Referral development and sales assignments on behalf of the Mobility Store to existing and prospective entities; will report outcomes to the Fund Development & Communications Director and the Director of the Mobility Stores.
  • Referral development and sales assignments on behalf of the WisLoan and Telework Programs to existing and prospective entities; will report outcomes to the Fund Development & Communications Director and the Director of the Mobility Stores.
  • This position will spend 90% of their time out of the office either making cold calls or conducting prescribed sales calls.
  • As requested, position will make telemarketing calls using prescribed scripting.
  • Major responsibility for conducting activities include: setting referral meetings and keeping appointments, messaging, coordinating materials distribution to referral sources.
  • Submits agency-required activity documentation to appropriate staff for data-entry.

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in business or marketing preferred. Business development, sales or other life experience may be considered with demonstrated success in lieu of academic requirements.
  • Qualities would include the following personality traits, openness, and conscientiousness, agreeable and curious, an extrovert and would place a high value on goal achievement.
  • One to three years of sales experience required.
  • Excellent communications skills; both verbal and written, with internal and external audiences. Capable of building relationships on the phone, email and face-to-face.
  • Demonstrated professionalism in manner and appearance, dressing business casual when representing agency in sales activities.
  • Has a positive attitude, reliability, a self-starter yet a team player, is conscientious, hard working.
  • Must have own vehicle with insurance and a safe driving record.
  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision required.
  • Well-organized, goal-oriented, multi-tasker. Attention to detail in reporting.
  • Cheerfully and willingly accepts new assignments. Confident, energetic and motivated.
  • Occasional weekend or evening hours for exhibiting and outreach/networking activities.
